PAINTING CLASSES

I  am  now  offering weekly  classes on  Tuesdays  10:00 a.m.  -  1:00  p.m.,  at  the  Sea  Goat  Maker’s Space  in  Mckinleyville.    Acrylic  paint  on  canvas.    You choose  what  you  want  to  paint,  so  everyone is  working  on  their  own  unique  painting.  I  recommend that  students  work  from  photographs.  You  can  bring  in  your  own  photos  that  are  printed  out,  or  you  can  use  the  reference photos  available  in  the  class.  You  can  also  work  from  your  drawings,  using  reference photos  for  the  different elements within the drawing.

Cost  is  $120  for  4  classes  (3  hours  each),  plus  a $20  materials  fee  which  includes  materials  for  your first painting.   Sizes  of  canvas  included  in  the  materials fee range from  8  x  10”  to  11  x  14”.

After  your  first  four  classes,  you  can  sign  up  for  another  set  of  4  for  $120,  or  per  class  for  $30.  When  you start  a  new  painting,  you  will  have  to  either  bring  in  your  own  materials,  or  pay  the  $20 materials fee.

Sign  up  at seagoatfarmstand.com  (view workshop calendar),  or  send  me  an  email  to paintingsbyjeffstanley@hotmail.com

to  ask questions.    The  number  of  students per  class  is  limited  due  to  the  small  size  of  the  Maker’s Space,  so  if  you  do  not  see  the  class  listed  on  the  workshop calendar  on  the  seagoatfarmstand website,  it’s possible that  the  class is  currently full.

Another  way  i  can  help is  by offering a  critique  of  your  paintings  in  progress,   or  by  answering any questions you  have  about your  paintings.     Maybe  you  have  taken  them  as  far  as  you can,  and  wonder  how  you  can  improve  them.  You  can  either  bring  your  paintings into  a  class  that  you  are  signed  up  for, or  you  can  email  me  photos  of your paintings which we can talk about on the phone?

I  previously taught  painting classes at  the  Westhaven  Center for the Arts  in Northern Humboldt County,  California, for 10 years,  until early 2020.  Before  that,  I  taught for a few  years  in  Ocean Beach, San  Diego,  from 2005  to 2008.

*  I paint with acrylic paint and Open  Acrylic.  Open  acrylic  is  slow  drying,  which  is  what  i  use  when  painting  out  in  nature.

** Classes are Fragrance Free.    Please  save  your  scented  lotions,  hair  sprays,  perfumes,  and  other  scented  products  for  other  occasions.
